This page contains information about how to submit your PC for this Chronicle. Everything on this page applies to all PC's in all Genres, regardless of what type of character you are making.

This does not include specific restrictions for individual genres. Anything specific to only one genre is on the individual Genres Rules Page. Be sure to read both before submitting a sheet.

[A] Submission Guidelines - Deadlines to Submit

  • You should have completed at least a first draft of your Character Sheet and Background within two weeks after you first come to our channel.

  • You should have edited all your corrections and turned in a final version for approval within a month of first arriving.

If you cannot do that much, you probably can't keep up with the pace of this Chronicle, and should not play here. (NB: Delays caused by waiting on your ST or by verifiable email or DCC problems, do not count against you.)

Players who have not sent in at least a first draft within two weeks of arrival, or a completed PC by a month of arrival, will be asked to produce such immediately, or be asked to leave because you aren't serious about playing here.

Please submit your completed Character sheet in *.xlc or *.doc/rtf format (see the Downloads Page for Char Sheets), along with your Background Bio that answers the Big Four questions (both with your email address on there) to the ST listed on the Sub-Genres Rules Page for your genre. You can privately message the ST in the channel and arrange to DCC them the sheets, or email them if you know the address.

Special Requirements for your CS or BG: Any Special Requirements (such as additional background information, equipment or details) for Submission of Character sheets are detailed on the individual Sub-Genres Rules Pages, as they vary by genre.

[B] THE APPROVAL PROCESS:

[1] HOW LONG UNTIL I AM APPROVED?: We do not guarantee a turnaround time on character sheets.

Please have patience, as we want to take our time and make sure we don't miss things that just end up having to be redone later. The reasonable wait time is approximately a couple of days after receipt of your sheet.

We will try to approve you quickly, but [1] the ST's are entitled to have a life and a night off, and [2] Not every sheet is ready to go when we first receive it.

You can speed up this process by checking your sheet and BG carefully & being sure they are in order as specified on the rules pages. (Hint: this is a good reason to make sure you put your email on your CS and BG both. It can save time in cleaning up minor changes.)

Approved chars will be Voiced (+v mode).

Feel free to politely inquire about the status of your PC, no more than once a day. Please do not nag. Excessive hounding for approval (more than once a day, or when you've been told your ST is busy) may result in you being removed from the game. We know you are anxious to RP, but remember we are just people with lives, and they don't center around getting this done in 15 minutes. Relax.

It is your responsibility to confirm that your submission has been received, with the ST to whom you sent it.

[2] DO NOT RP UNTIL YOU ARE APPROVED.

We no longer Temp approve characters, as this has not worked out in past cases, some of which ended up in illegal combat that had to be redone or rescinded. Do not go IC even socially for any reason until you are approved, voiced in Chanserv and subscribed to all the Yahoo Groups you are supposed to belong to. No exceptions.

[3] APPROVAL OF MULTIPLE CHARACTERS:

Approval of one character is NOT automatic approval to play more without submitting each to the same approval process. Each character sheet must go through the process of individual approval.

Having voice (+v) in channel is not permission to run a new char that we have not approved yet.

[C] WHO NEEDS A COPY OF YOUR SHEET?:

Obviously, your ST (listed on the Genres Rules Pages).

Your ST will also need an updated copy of your sheet any time it is changed. This is your responsibility to offer, not ours to hunt you down and ask.

You will only be allowed to dice off the sheet your ST has approved and has a copy of.

If an Op/St from our game, even from another genre, asks for your sheet for any reason, give it to them. If this is a problem, speak to your ST about their request.

[D] ONGOING RIGHT TO SPOT-REVIEW CHARACTER SHEETS:

*Please read this paragraph carefully, until you are absolutely sure that you understand it. Every player is subject to this rule, yet we still have had numerous players argue and act as if they never saw this section. Please don't be one of them.*

The ST’s reserve the UNCONDITIONAL right to, on demand: review, question, or ask for explanations, backgrounds or revisions on ANYTHING on ANYONE’s sheet in this chronicle, at ANY TIME for ANY REASON.

This may occur weeks, months, or even years after initial approval, if an ST feels that is warranted. That is their right to make that call, not yours.

Once your sheet’s approved, it is not irrevocably locked in stone.

We are people with lives outside of IRC. We may have been busy or tired while reviewing a sheet. We may simply miss something and realize it after the fact. One ST may interpret something one way, and one another, that changes its acceptability. Rules may change, either White Wolf or channel rules.

In order to properly and fairly referee our game, we reserve this right. Sometimes we're going to miss stuff, or ST's will disagree, and that means we have to go back and change something. It happens. Do not bitch about it or refuse to cooperate. We do not ask such things lightly, so if they ARE asked, there will always be a good reason.

If you play here, you agree to this condition. Anyone who has a problem with this concept can play elsewhere. Extend the same right to diligence to every ST that you would want on your side, if your character's life depended on the ruling. One night, it very well may.

[E] HOW MANY CHARACTERS MAY I SUBMIT?:

[1] STARTING NUMBER OF PC's:  CHANGE IN POLICY, EFFECTIVE APRIL 2004 --

New players will begin with just ONE PC at first, so choose your design with great care.

Once you have played for a few weeks and have shown you can handle the obligations of that PC, you can have more approved.

We do understand that having only one PC limits the chances for you to RP, but that is more your motive to choose a PC that will fit in well in the overall chronicle, so that your downtime is kept to a minimum.

We do not want to waste your time or ours approving a bunch of half-assed PC's that don't work right. We're not going to approve it in the first place if it's completely unworkable.

But, if your PC design is too hard for you to carry, you may be able to swap it for another one ONE TIME. If you can't get the hang of designing something that works after that, then you must use what you have and make it work. Your ST can advise you how. Ask us.

[2] MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PC's:

We do not have a set number of maximum characters you can run. This is an individual thing, much like asking "How much food should I eat?" Obviously, what you need, and what you are able to handle.

The guideline is that you may submit and run as many characters as you can consistently handle and obey the one week / two week check-in rule. For some players, that isn’t even one character. For others, they can juggle many at the same time.

If you begin to slack, your ST may request you get rid of some characters. If you get into the habit of creating a stable of characters that you just ignore, you may not only have them confiscated, but be restricted from creating any more until the ST’s feel you respect the amount of time and effort we expend in the approval process.

See the section called "Inactivity/Hiatus Guidelines," if you simply have a legitimate need to put a character on hold, or retire them.
